6 June 2005 PANEL: “Heritage Buildings and Adaptive Reuse” Date: Monday 6 June 2005 Place: Darke Hall, 2201 College Avenue A reception and tour followed this event The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) and the HRI are collaborating on a Heritage Initiative with two aims: to restore to use the historic 1912 Lecture Theatre in the College Building on the old campus of the University of Regina; and to draw attention to the value of preserving our urban heritage. To this end, the CCE and the HRI invited everyone to the first event in a Heritage Lecture Series. It began with a panel, moderated by Dr. Bill Brennan (Professor of History, University of Regina). Each panellist spoke on the topic specified below, and discussion followed. The event concluded with a reception and tour. The panel consisted of: Bland Brown (Former Director, Community Services, City of Regina), “The Challenges of Developing and Administering Public Policy for the Conservation of Heritage Properties” Bernard Flaman (Heritage Architect), “The Future of Heritage: The Rebirth of the College Building at the University of Saskatchewan” Bruce Anderson (Executive Director, Regina’s Old Warehouse Business Improvement District), “Our Future Is Our Past: Discussing Current Adaptive Reuse and Long-Term Plans for the Warehouse District Historic Area” Mo Bundon (Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, Harvard Developments, Inc.), “The Developer’s Perspective on Heritage Buildings and Adaptive Reuse”
