Principal Investigator: Dr. Jennifer L. Gordon Project Description: The development of assisted reproductive technologies such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) has revolutionised the field of reproductive medicine, allowing millions of individuals with infertility to become parents. However, as a highly invasive, burdensome, and costly intervention, IVF is also associated with high levels of anxiety and distress for patients and their partners. Most research investigating the emotional challenges of medically assisted reproduction has excluded members of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities due to a reliance on heteronormative definitions of infertility. This project therefore seeks to explore the unique experiences of members of these communities and to examine how they differ from those of heteronormative couples experiencing infertility.
