Habiba Boumlik is a Professor in the Department of Education and Language Acquisition at LaGuardia Community College, CUNY, NY. She teaches Spanish, Arabic and French language and literature, linguistics and Middle Eastern and North African cinema. Her research interests encompass francophone literatures, North African immigration to France, Moroccan Judaism, and Amazigh identity. She is the founder of the New York Forum of Amazigh Film (www.nyfaf.com), an annual film festival celebrating the culture, history and diversity of the Imazighen/Berbers through film. She taught in Hungary, Egypt and France and traveled extensively in Europe, Central America and Asia. She is the co-founder of the International School of Brooklyn (www.isbrooklyn.org) and she used to run a program for children called Languages for Kids.
